The South Bend Lions Club has teamed up with both the Lakeville Lions Club and Indiana Lion's Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank to offer free eye screening for children 1 - 6 years young. It is as simple as having a picture photo because it does not use any physical contact, any eye drops, or any medications.
The screening is approximately 85 to 90% effective in detecting vision problems; as well as preventing further problems that cannot be corrected after a child matures. Parents are notified of any inconsistent normal readings in order to take proper action.
The Lions Club checks the vision for groups of children in daycare programs, Sunday School, Head Start, and oth special children groups.
We appreciate the generosity of the Lakeville Lions Club in assisting by making the eye testing equipment available the South Bend Lions Club when testing is needed.
